Comparatives & Superlatives
రెండు వస్తువులను పోల్చడానికి comparatives (-er / more), మూడు లేదా ఎక్కువ వాటిలో 'అత్యంత' చెప్పడానికి superlatives (-est / most) వాడతారు. 'Tom is taller than Ken' (టామ్ కెన్ కంటే పొడవు). 'She is the tallest in the class' (ఆమె తరగతిలో అత్యంత పొడవు).
Comparative (-er / more) — రెండు పోలిక
చిన్న పదాలకు (1-2 syllables) -er చేరుస్తారు. పొడవైన పదాలకు (3+ syllables) more వాడతారు. than తో పోలిస్తారు.
S + be + -er than / S + be + more + adj + than
Tom is taller than Ken.
టామ్ కెన్ కంటే పొడవు.
This book is more interesting than that one.
ఈ పుస్తకం అది కంటే ఆసక్తికరం.
She is older than her brother.
ఆమె తన తమ్ముడి కంటే పెద్ద.
Summer is hotter than spring.

good → better → best, bad → worse → worst అక్రమంగా మారతాయి. 'gooder' లేదా 'more good' తప్పు!
Superlative (-est / most) — అత్యంత
మూడు లేదా ఎక్కువ వాటిలో 'అత్యంత' చెప్పడానికి -est / most వాడతారు. the తప్పనిసరి.
S + be + the + -est / S + be + the + most + adj
She is the tallest in the class.
ఆమె తరగతిలో అత్యంత పొడవు.
This is the most beautiful flower.
ఇది అత్యంత అందమైన పువ్వు.
He is the best player on the team.
అతను టీమ్లో అత్యుత్తమ ఆటగాడు.
superlative ముందు the తప్పనిసరి! 'She is tallest' తప్పు, 'She is the tallest' సరి.
తెలుగు మరియు ఆంగ్లం తేడాలు
- ●తెలుగు 'కంటే పొడవు' = ఆంగ్లం 'taller than'. '-కంటే' = than.
- ●తెలుగు 'అత్యంత పొడవు' = ఆంగ్లం 'the tallest'. 'అత్యంత' = the + -est.
- ●తెలుగులో 'మరి ఆసక్తికరం' = 'more interesting'. 'more' = 'మరి' లేదా 'ఎక్కువ'.
- ●ఆంగ్లంలో good→better→best అక్రమం. తెలుగులో 'మంచి → మరింత మంచి → అత్యంత మంచి' సాధారణం.

tall చిన్న పదం → -er. more tall కాదు.

good → best (అక్రమం). most good కాదు.
