షరతు వాక్యాలు (if... then...)
Conditionals (if)
షరతు వాక్యాలు 'ఒకవేళ...అయితే...' అనే భావన. ఆంగ్లంలో if తో మొదలవుతాయి. Zero conditional (సాధారణ సత్యం), First conditional (సాధ్యమైన భవిష్యత్), Second conditional (ఊహాత్మక/అసాధ్యం) అనే రకాలు ఉన్నాయి.
Zero & First Conditionals
Zero: If + present, present (సాధారణ సత్యం). First: If + present, will + V (సాధ్యమైన భవిష్యత్).
Zero: If + S + V, S + V / First: If + S + V, S + will + V
If you heat water, it boils. (Zero)
నీటిని వేడి చేస్తే, అది మరుగుతుంది.
If it rains tomorrow, I will stay home. (First)
రేపు వర్షం పడితే, నేను ఇంట్లో ఉంటాను.
If she studies hard, she will pass.
ఆమె కష్టపడి చదివితే, పాసవుతుంది.
If you eat too much, you get sick. (Zero)
ఎక్కువ తింటే, జబ్బు వస్తుంది.
if వాక్యంలో will వాడరు! 'If it will rain' తప్పు, 'If it rains' సరి. will ఫలిత భాగంలో మాత్రమే.
Second Conditional (ఊహాత్మక)
ఇప్పుడు సాధ్యం కాని/ఊహాత్మక పరిస్థితి. If + past, would + V. 'ఒకవేళ నేను పక్షినైతే ఎగురుతాను' — కానీ నేను పక్షిని కాదు.
If + S + V-ed/were, S + would + V
If I were a bird, I would fly.
నేను పక్షినైతే, ఎగురుతాను.
If I had a million dollars, I would travel the world.
నా దగ్గర పది లక్షల డాలర్లు ఉంటే, ప్రపంచం చుట్టూ తిరుగుతాను.
If she lived closer, we would meet more often.
ఆమె దగ్గరగా ఉంటే, మేము తరచుగా కలిసేవాళ్ళము.
Second conditional లో 'If I was' కంటే 'If I were' formal గా సరైనది. 'If I were you, I would...' = 'నేను నీ స్థానంలో ఉంటే...'
తెలుగు మరియు ఆంగ్లం తేడాలు
- ●తెలుగు '-తే' = ఆంగ్ల if. 'వర్షం పడితే' = 'If it rains'.
- ●తెలుగులో zero/first/second conditional తేడా స్పష్టం కాదు. ఆంగ్లంలో కాలం ద్వారా తేడా చూపిస్తారు.
- ●ఆంగ్లం Second conditional లో గత కాలం వాడతారు (If I had...) కానీ గతం గురించి కాదు, ఊహ గురించి. ఇది తెలుగులో లేని భావన.
- ●తెలుగు 'ఉంటే' = if + were. 'నేను పక్షినైతే' = 'If I were a bird'.
Common Mistakes
If it will rain, I will stay home.
If it rains, I will stay home.
if వాక్యంలో will వాడరు. present tense వాడాలి.
If I was a bird, I would fly.
If I were a bird, I would fly.
Second conditional లో were (I/he/she/it అన్నింటికీ).
