Countable & Uncountable Nouns
ఇంగ్లీష్ నామవాచకాలు (nouns) రెండు రకాలు — countable (లెక్కింపదగినవి: a book, two books) మరియు uncountable (లెక్కింపలేనివి: water, rice). ఏది countable, ఏది uncountable అనేది తెలుసుకోవడం ఇంగ్లీష్లో చాలా ముఖ్యం. ఈ పాఠంలో ఈ తేడాలు నేర్చుకుందాం!
Countable Nouns (లెక్కింపదగినవి)
Countable nouns ను ఒకటి, రెండు... అని లెక్కించవచ్చు. a/an వాడవచ్చు, plural form (బహువచనం) ఉంటుంది.
I have a book. / I have three books.
నా దగ్గర ఒక పుస్తకం ఉంది. / నా దగ్గర మూడు పుస్తకాలు ఉన్నాయి.
She ate an apple.
ఆమె ఒక ఆపిల్ తిన్నది.
There are two cats in the garden.
తోటలో రెండు పిల్లులు ఉన్నాయి.

Uncountable Nouns (లెక్కింపలేనివి)
Uncountable nouns ను నేరుగా లెక్కించలేరు. a/an వాడరు, plural form ఉండదు. water, rice, money, information, advice వంటివి.
I need water.
నాకు నీళ్ళు కావాలి.
Rice is a staple food.
అన్నం ప్రధాన ఆహారం.
She gave me good advice.
ఆమె నాకు మంచి సలహా ఇచ్చింది.
Money can't buy happiness.
డబ్బుతో ఆనందాన్ని కొనలేరు.
some / any / much / many
countable తో 'many / how many / a few' వాడతారు, uncountable తో 'much / how much / a little' వాడతారు. 'some / any' రెండింటికీ వాడవచ్చు.
How many apples do you want?
నీకు ఎన్ని ఆపిల్స్ కావాలి?

I have a few friends.
నాకు కొంతమంది స్నేహితులు ఉన్నారు.

Uncountable ను లెక్కించే విధానం
Uncountable nouns ను లెక్కించాలంటే 'a glass of', 'a piece of', 'a cup of' వంటి counter words వాడతారు.

- ●తెలుగులో దాదాపు అన్ని నామవాచకాలను లెక్కించవచ్చు ('రెండు నీళ్ళు' — అర్థంలో 'రెండు గ్లాసుల నీళ్ళు'). కానీ ఇంగ్లీష్లో 'two waters' అనడం తప్పు — 'two glasses of water' అనాలి. ఈ తేడా తెలుగు నేర్చుకునే పిల్లలకు కొంచెం కష్టంగా ఉంటుంది.

'information' uncountable — 'a/an' వాడరు. 'some' లేదా 'a piece of' వాడాలి.

'money' uncountable కాబట్టి 'much' వాడాలి, 'many' కాదు.
