Gerund (-ing) & To-infinitive (to+V)
Gerunds & Infinitives
కొన్ని క్రియలు V-ing (gerund) తో, కొన్ని to+V (infinitive) తో, కొన్ని రెండింటితో వస్తాయి. enjoy + V-ing (ఆస్వాదించు), want + to+V (కోరుకు), like + V-ing/to+V (ఇష్టపడు). ఏ క్రియ తర్వాత ఏది వాడాలో తెలుసుకోవడం ముఖ్యం.
V-ing (gerund) తీసుకునే క్రియలు
enjoy, finish, stop, mind, practice, avoid, keep వంటి క్రియల తర్వాత V-ing వస్తుంది.
enjoy/finish/stop/... + V-ing
I enjoy reading books.
నాకు పుస్తకాలు చదవడం ఇష్టం.
She finished cooking dinner.
ఆమె భోజనం వండటం పూర్తి చేసింది.
He stopped smoking.
అతను ధూమపానం మానేశాడు.

కిటికీ తెరవడం మీకు ఇబ్బంది కాదా?
enjoy to read తప్పు! enjoy + V-ing. 'I enjoy reading' సరి.
to+V (infinitive) తీసుకునే క్రియలు
want, hope, decide, plan, promise, need, try వంటి క్రియల తర్వాత to+V వస్తుంది.
want/hope/decide/... + to + V
I want to be a doctor.
నేను డాక్టర్ అవ్వాలనుకుంటున్నాను.
She decided to study abroad.
ఆమె విదేశాల్లో చదవాలని నిర్ణయించుకుంది.
He hopes to pass the exam.
అతను పరీక్షలో పాసవ్వాలని ఆశిస్తున్నాడు.
I need to go now.
నాకు ఇప్పుడు వెళ్ళాలి.
want V-ing తప్పు! want + to + V. 'I want to go' సరి, 'I want going' తప్పు.
తెలుగు మరియు ఆంగ్లం తేడాలు
- ●తెలుగులో '-డం' = gerund. 'చదవడం ఇష్టం' = 'enjoy reading'.
- ●తెలుగులో '-ాలని' = to + V. 'అవ్వాలని' = 'want to be'.
- ●తెలుగులో gerund/infinitive తేడా లేదు — '-డం' ఒకటే. ఆంగ్లంలో ఏ క్రియ తర్వాత ఏది వాడాలో గుర్తుపెట్టుకోవాలి.
