नकारात्मक वाक्य वे हैं जिनमें 'नहीं' का भाव आता है — '~नहीं है', '~नहीं करता'। हिन्दी में 'नहीं' लगाते हैं, अंग्रेज़ी में not का प्रयोग होता है। be क्रिया और सामान्य क्रिया के नकारात्मक वाक्य बनाने के तरीक़े अलग-अलग हैं।
be क्रिया का नकारात्मक रूप (am not / is not / are not)
be क्रिया (am/is/are) के बाद not लगाकर नकारात्मक वाक्य बनाते हैं। छोटे रूप isn't, aren't भी बोलचाल में खूब इस्तेमाल होते हैं।

मैं शिक्षक नहीं हूँ।
She is not hungry.
उसे भूख नहीं लगी है।
They are not here.
वे यहाँ नहीं हैं।

आज ठंड नहीं है।

'I amn't' नहीं कहते! 'I' के साथ 'I'm not' कहते हैं।
सामान्य क्रिया का नकारात्मक रूप (do not / does not)
be क्रिया के अलावा अन्य क्रियाओं को नकारात्मक बनाने के लिए do not (don't) या does not (doesn't) लगाते हैं। He/She/It के साथ does not, बाक़ी के साथ do not। does not के बाद क्रिया मूल रूप में वापस आ जाती है।

मुझे मकड़ियाँ पसंद नहीं हैं।
She does not eat meat.
वह माँस नहीं खाती।
We do not play tennis.
हम टेनिस नहीं खेलते।

They do not live in Mumbai.
वे मुंबई में नहीं रहते।
I do not have a car.
मेरे पास गाड़ी नहीं है।

does not के बाद क्रिया मूल रूप में आती है! 'She doesn't eats' नहीं, 'She doesn't eat' सही है — -s हटाएँ!
be क्रिया vs सामान्य क्रिया — नकारात्मक में अंतर
be क्रिया का नकारात्मक और सामान्य क्रिया का नकारात्मक अलग-अलग बनता है। be + not बनाम do/does + not + V — इन्हें मिलाएँ नहीं।
be: S + am/is/are + not | सामान्य: S + don't/doesn't + V
He is not a pilot. (be क्रिया)
वह पायलट नहीं है।
He does not fly planes. (सामान्य क्रिया)
वह विमान नहीं उड़ाता।
She is not happy. (be — विशेषण)
वह खुश नहीं है।
She does not smile. (सामान्य — क्रिया)
वह मुस्कुराती नहीं है।
They are not at school. (be — स्थान)
वे स्कूल में नहीं हैं।
They do not go to school. (सामान्य — क्रिया)
वे स्कूल नहीं जाते।

हिन्दी और अंग्रेज़ी के नकारात्मक वाक्यों में अंतर
- ●हिन्दी में 'नहीं' क्रिया से पहले आता है (खाता नहीं)। अंग्रेज़ी में not/don't/doesn't का स्थान अलग है।
- ●अंग्रेज़ी में be और सामान्य क्रिया के नकारात्मक रूप अलग हैं। हिन्दी में दोनों के लिए 'नहीं' काम करता है।
- ●does not के बाद क्रिया से -s हट जाता है (likes → doesn't like)। हिन्दी में ऐसा परिवर्तन नहीं होता।
- ●never (कभी नहीं) के साथ don't/doesn't नहीं लगता। दोहरा नकार (double negative) अंग्रेज़ी में ग़लत है।
