प्रश्नवाचक वाक्य वे हैं जिनमें हम कुछ पूछते हैं — 'क्या आप...?', 'क्या वह...?'। अंग्रेज़ी में प्रश्न बनाने के लिए शब्दों का क्रम बदलता है। 'Yes' या 'No' से जवाब देने वाले प्रश्न Yes/No question कहलाते हैं। हिन्दी में वाक्य के अंत में 'क्या' लगाकर प्रश्न बन जाता है, लेकिन अंग्रेज़ी में क्रिया और कर्ता की जगह बदलती है।

be क्रिया से प्रश्न बनाने के लिए am/is/are को कर्ता के पहले रख देते हैं। सकारात्मक वाक्य → be क्रिया आगे लाएँ → प्रश्न तैयार!

be क्रिया के प्रश्न में do/does नहीं लगता — सिर्फ़ be क्रिया आगे लाएँ!
सामान्य क्रिया का प्रश्नवाचक रूप (Do / Does)
be क्रिया के अलावा अन्य क्रियाओं से प्रश्न बनाने के लिए Do या Does वाक्य की शुरुआत में लगाते हैं। He/She/It → Does, बाक़ी → Do। Does के बाद क्रिया मूल रूप में आती है।

Does के बाद क्रिया मूल रूप में आती है! 'Does she plays?' नहीं, 'Does she play?' सही है।
Yes/No से उत्तर देना
Yes/No प्रश्नों का उत्तर 'Yes, कर्ता + क्रिया' या 'No, कर्ता + क्रिया + not' से देते हैं। be क्रिया के प्रश्न → be से उत्तर, Do/Does के प्रश्न → do/does से उत्तर।
Are you hungry? — Yes, I am. / No, I'm not.
क्या तुम्हें भूख लगी है? — हाँ। / नहीं।
Is he a student? — Yes, he is. / No, he isn't.
क्या वह विद्यार्थी है? — हाँ। / नहीं।
Does he like fish? — Yes, he does. / No, he doesn't.
क्या उसे मछली पसंद है? — हाँ। / नहीं।
Do they live here? — Yes, they do. / No, they don't.
क्या वे यहाँ रहते हैं? — हाँ। / नहीं।
Do you play tennis? — Yes, I do. / No, I don't.

Yes/No के उत्तर में क्रिया भी बोलें (Yes, I do / No, she doesn't)। सिर्फ़ 'Yes' या 'No' अधूरा है।
हिन्दी और अंग्रेज़ी के प्रश्नवाचक वाक्यों में अंतर
- ●हिन्दी में वाक्य के आरंभ में 'क्या' जोड़कर प्रश्न बनता है। अंग्रेज़ी में शब्द क्रम बदलना पड़ता है।
- ●हिन्दी: 'क्या तुम विद्यार्थी हो?' → अंग्रेज़ी: 'Are you a student?' — be क्रिया आगे आती है।
- ●अंग्रेज़ी में be और सामान्य क्रिया के प्रश्न अलग-अलग बनते हैं — Do/Does सहायक क्रिया लगती है।
- ●Yes/No उत्तर में अंग्रेज़ी में कर्ता + क्रिया दोहराते हैं। हिन्दी में 'हाँ/नहीं' पर्याप्त है।
