Passive Voice
Passive Voice (कर्मवाच्य) में क्रिया का प्रभाव कर्ता (doer) के बजाय कर्म (receiver) पर होता है। 'The book was written by Premchand' — यहाँ किताब (कर्म) मुख्य है, प्रेमचंद (कर्ता) गौण है। संरचना: be + past participle। हिंदी में '-ा जाता है / -ई जाती है / -ए जाते हैं' से बनता है।
Active → Passive बदलना
Active में कर्ता पहले, Passive में कर्म पहले। be + past participle + by + कर्ता।
Active: She writes a letter. → Passive: A letter is written by her.
सक्रिय: वह पत्र लिखती है। → कर्मवाच्य: पत्र उसके द्वारा लिखा जाता है।
Active: They built the Taj Mahal. → Passive: The Taj Mahal was built by them.
सक्रिय: उन्होंने ताज महल बनाया। → कर्मवाच्य: ताज महल उनके द्वारा बनाया गया।
Rice is eaten in India.
भारत में चावल खाया जाता है।
Hindi is spoken by millions of people.
हिंदी करोड़ों लोगों द्वारा बोली जाती है।

Passive का be क्रिया काल के अनुसार बदलता है।
The food is cooked every day. (Simple Present)
खाना हर दिन बनाया जाता है।
The letter was sent yesterday. (Simple Past)
पत्र कल भेजा गया।
The room is being cleaned now. (Present Progressive)
कमरा अभी साफ़ किया जा रहा है।
The bridge will be built next year. (Future)
पुल अगले साल बनाया जाएगा।

by-phrase कब छोड़ें
जब कर्ता अज्ञात, अनावश्यक या सामान्य (people, someone) हो, तो 'by...' छोड़ सकते हैं।
English is spoken worldwide.
अंग्रेज़ी दुनिया भर में बोली जाती है। (कर्ता — सब लोग — अनावश्यक)
My phone was stolen.
मेरा फ़ोन चोरी हो गया। (कर्ता — अज्ञात)
The road is being repaired.
सड़क की मरम्मत हो रही है।
हिन्दी और अंग्रेज़ी में अंतर
- ●हिंदी में कर्मवाच्य '-ा जाता है / -ई जाती है' या '-ा गया / -ई गई' से बनता है: 'खाना बनाया जाता है'।
- ●अंग्रेज़ी में be + past participle: 'Food is cooked'।
- ●दोनों भाषाओं में 'द्वारा/by' से कर्ता बताया जा सकता है।
Common Mistakes
The cake was ate by her.
The cake was eaten by her.
Passive में past participle (eaten) आता है, Simple Past (ate) नहीं।

English is spoken everywhere.
be + past participle: speak → spoken।
