Past Perfect
Past Perfect (पूर्ण भूतकाल) का प्रयोग भूतकाल में दो क्रियाओं में से पहले हुई क्रिया को दर्शाने के लिए किया जाता है। 'had + past participle' — 'I had already eaten when she arrived' (जब वह आई, मैं पहले ही खाना खा चुका था)। हिंदी में '-चुका था / -चुकी थी' से इसे व्यक्त करते हैं।
Past Perfect की संरचना
had + past participle (तीसरा रूप)। had सभी कर्ताओं के साथ एक ही रूप में प्रयोग होता है।
I had finished my homework before dinner.
मैंने रात के खाने से पहले होमवर्क पूरा कर लिया था।
She had left before I arrived.
मेरे आने से पहले वह जा चुकी थी।
They had already eaten.
वे पहले ही खा चुके थे।
He had never seen snow before.
उसने पहले कभी बर्फ़ नहीं देखी थी।
भूतकाल में क्रमबद्ध क्रियाएँ
जब भूतकाल में दो क्रियाएँ हों, पहले हुई = Past Perfect, बाद में हुई = Simple Past।
When I reached the station, the train had already left.
जब मैं स्टेशन पहुँचा, ट्रेन पहले ही जा चुकी थी।
She was sad because she had lost her phone.
वह दुखी थी क्योंकि उसका फ़ोन खो गया था।
After he had studied, he went to play.
पढ़ाई करने के बाद वह खेलने गया।
I didn't go because I had already seen that movie.
मैं नहीं गया क्योंकि मैं वह फ़िल्म पहले ही देख चुका था।
before / after / when / because के साथ Past Perfect अक्सर आता है।
नकारात्मक और प्रश्नवाचक
नकारात्मक: had + not + past participle। प्रश्न: Had + कर्ता + past participle?
I hadn't finished my work.
मैंने अपना काम पूरा नहीं किया था।
Had you ever visited Jaipur before?
क्या तुम पहले कभी जयपुर गए थे?
She hadn't eaten anything since morning.
उसने सुबह से कुछ नहीं खाया था।
Had they left when you arrived?
क्या तुम्हारे आने पर वे जा चुके थे?
हिन्दी और अंग्रेज़ी में अंतर
- ●हिंदी का '-चुका था / -चुकी थी / -चुके थे' (खा चुका था, जा चुकी थी) अंग्रेज़ी के Past Perfect (had + past participle) से मेल खाता है।
- ●दोनों भाषाओं में यह 'भूतकाल से भी पहले' की क्रिया को दर्शाता है।
Common Mistakes
When I came, she had leave.
When I came, she had left.
'had' के बाद past participle (left) आता है, मूल क्रिया (leave) नहीं।
I had ate lunch before she came.
I had eaten lunch before she came.
eat का past participle 'eaten' है, 'ate' (Simple Past) नहीं।
