There is / There are
'There is' और 'There are' का प्रयोग किसी चीज़ के अस्तित्व या उपस्थिति को बताने के लिए किया जाता है। 'There is a temple near my house' (मेरे घर के पास एक मंदिर है)। एकवचन के लिए 'There is' और बहुवचन के लिए 'There are' का प्रयोग होता है। हिंदी में 'है / हैं' से इसे व्यक्त करते हैं।

एक चीज़ → There is (There's)। एक से अधिक → There are।

हिन्दी और अंग्रेज़ी में अंतर
- ●हिंदी में 'है / हैं' का प्रयोग अस्तित्व बताने के लिए होता है — 'मेज़ पर किताब है'।
- ●अंग्रेज़ी में इसके लिए 'There is/are' ज़रूरी है — सीधे 'A book is on the table' नहीं, बल्कि 'There is a book on the table' कहते हैं।
