Phrasal Verbs (क्रिया + पूर्वसर्ग/क्रियाविशेषण) का अर्थ अलग-अलग शब्दों के अर्थ से भिन्न होता है। 'give up' = छोड़ देना (give + up अलग से 'ऊपर देना' नहीं), 'look after' = देखभाल करना। ये रोज़मर्रा की अंग्रेज़ी में बहुत सामान्य हैं।
दैनिक जीवन के Phrasal Verbs
रोज़मर्रा में सबसे ज़्यादा प्रयोग होने वाले phrasal verbs।
I wake up at 6 AM.
मैं सुबह 6 बजे उठता हूँ। (wake up = जागना)
Please turn off the lights.
कृपया बत्तियाँ बंद करो। (turn off = बंद करना)
She put on her shoes.
उसने जूते पहन लिए। (put on = पहनना)
He took off his jacket.
उसने जैकेट उतारी। (take off = उतारना)
संवाद और रिश्तों के Phrasal Verbs
बातचीत और रिश्तों से संबंधित phrasal verbs।
I get along with my classmates.
मेरी सहपाठियों से अच्छी बनती है। (get along with = अच्छे संबंध)
She looks after her grandmother.
वह अपनी दादी की देखभाल करती है। (look after = देखभाल)
Don't give up! Keep trying.
हार मत मानो! कोशिश जारी रखो। (give up = हार मानना)
I ran into an old friend.
अचानक एक पुराने दोस्त से मिल गया। (run into = अचानक मिलना)

पढ़ाई और कार्यस्थल से संबंधित phrasal verbs।
I need to find out the answer.
मुझे उत्तर पता लगाना है। (find out = पता लगाना)
She handed in her homework.
उसने अपना होमवर्क जमा किया। (hand in = जमा करना)
He figured out the problem.
उसने समस्या सुलझा ली। (figure out = समझना/सुलझाना)
I will look into this matter.
मैं इस मामले की जाँच करूँगा। (look into = जाँच करना)
Separable और Inseparable Phrasal Verbs
Separable: object बीच में आ सकता है (turn the light off)। Inseparable: object बीच में नहीं (look after her)।
Turn off the TV. / Turn the TV off. (separable)
टीवी बंद करो। (दोनों सही)
Turn it off. (सर्वनाम बीच में ज़रूरी)
इसे बंद करो। (Turn off it ❌)
She looks after her mother. (inseparable)
वह अपनी माँ की देखभाल करती है। (looks her mother after ❌)
सर्वनाम (it, him, her) हमेशा बीच में: pick it up ✅, pick up it ❌
हिन्दी और अंग्रेज़ी में अंतर
- ●हिंदी में phrasal verb जैसी अवधारणा कम है — अधिकतर एक शब्द में क्रिया व्यक्त होती है (उठना, बंद करना, पहनना)।
- ●अंग्रेज़ी में ये 'क्रिया + particle' संयोजन बहुत सामान्य हैं और इन्हें याद करना ज़रूरी है।
