Conjunctions
సంయోజకాలు పదాలు, పదబంధాలు, వాక్యాలను కలిపే పదాలు. and (మరియు), but (కానీ), or (లేదా), because (ఎందుకంటే), when (ఎప్పుడు). సరైన సంయోజకం వాడితే ఆలోచనలు స్పష్టంగా అనుసంధానమవుతాయి.
and / but / or / so — సమన్వయ సంయోజకాలు
and = మరియు (జోడింపు). but = కానీ (వ్యతిరేకత). or = లేదా (ఎంపిక). so = అందుకే (ఫలితం).

because / when / if / although — అధీన సంయోజకాలు
because = ఎందుకంటే (కారణం). when = ఎప్పుడు (సమయం). if = ఒకవేళ (షరతు). although = అయినా (విరుద్ధం).
I stayed home because it was raining.
వర్షం కురుస్తున్నందువల్ల ఇంట్లో ఉన్నాను.
When I was young, I lived in Osaka.
నేను చిన్నప్పుడు ఒసాకాలో ఉండేవాడిని.
Although she was tired, she kept studying.
అలసటగా ఉన్నా, ఆమె చదువు కొనసాగించింది.
because ప్రారంభంలో వస్తే comma అవసరం: 'Because it rained, I stayed home.' చివర వస్తే comma అవసరం లేదు: 'I stayed home because it rained.'
తెలుగు మరియు ఆంగ్లం తేడాలు
- ●తెలుగు 'మరియు' = and, 'కానీ' = but, 'లేదా' = or, 'అందుకే' = so.
- ●తెలుగు 'ఎందుకంటే' = because, '-నప్పుడు' = when, '-తే' = if, '-అయినా' = although.
- ●తెలుగులో సంయోజకాలు ఆంగ్లం లాగే పదాల/వాక్యాల మధ్య వస్తాయి.
- ●ఆంగ్లంలో because vs so తేడా: because = కారణం (Why?), so = ఫలితం (What happened?).
Common Mistakes
I like cats. And dogs.
I like cats and dogs.
and పదాలను ఒకే వాక్యంలో కలుపుతుంది. వేరే వాక్యాలుగా విడదీయరు (informal తప్ప).
Because it rained so I stayed home.
Because it rained, I stayed home.
because + so రెండూ ఒకే వాక్యంలో వాడరు. ఒకటే వాడాలి.
