Prepositional Idioms
Prepositional idioms అంటే నిర్దిష్ట preposition తో కలిసి వచ్చే పదబంధాలు. 'interested in', 'good at', 'afraid of' వంటివి. ఏ పదం తర్వాత ఏ preposition వస్తుందో నేర్చుకోవాలి — ఇది rules ద్వారా కాదు, practice ద్వారా నేర్చుకుంటారు!
విశేషణం + preposition
కొన్ని విశేషణాల తర్వాత నిర్దిష్ట preposition వస్తుంది. ఈ combinations నేర్చుకోవాలి.
I'm interested in science.
నాకు సైన్స్ పట్ల ఆసక్తి ఉంది.
She is good at math.
ఆమెకు గణితంలో బాగా వస్తుంది.
He is afraid of dogs.
అతనికి కుక్కలంటే భయం.
We are proud of you.
మాకు నీ మీద గర్వంగా ఉంది.
క్రియ + preposition
కొన్ని క్రియల తర్వాత నిర్దిష్ట preposition వస్తుంది. ఇవి phrasal verbs కంటే భిన్నం — అర్థం సాధారణంగా ఊహించవచ్చు.
I agree with you.
నేను నీతో ఏకీభవిస్తున్నాను.
She belongs to this club.
ఆమె ఈ క్లబ్కు చెందినది.
Don't laugh at others.
ఇతరులను చూసి నవ్వకు.
He apologized for being late.

కొన్ని నామవాచకాల తర్వాత నిర్దిష్ట preposition వస్తుంది.

- ●తెలుగులో preposition అనే concept 'విభక్తి ప్రత్యయం' గా ఉంటుంది (-లో, -కి, -తో, -మీద). కానీ ఇంగ్లీష్లో ఏ పదం తర్వాత ఏ preposition వస్తుందో నిర్దిష్ట నియమం లేదు — 'interested in' (in ఎందుకు?) 'afraid of' (of ఎందుకు?) — ఇవి ఒక్కొక్కటి విడివిడిగా గుర్తుంచుకోవాలి.

'interested' తర్వాత 'about' కాదు, 'in' వస్తుంది.
She is good in cooking.
She is good at cooking.
'good' తర్వాత 'in' కాదు, 'at' వస్తుంది.
