Conjunctions (संयोजक) वे शब्द हैं जो शब्दों, वाक्यांशों या वाक्यों को जोड़ते हैं — and (और), but (लेकिन), or (या), so (इसलिए), because (क्योंकि)। हिंदी में भी 'और, लेकिन, या, क्योंकि' इसी तरह काम करते हैं। ये अंग्रेज़ी के सबसे बुनियादी और ज़रूरी शब्द हैं।
and, but, or — बुनियादी संयोजक
'and' जोड़ता है, 'but' विरोध दर्शाता है, 'or' विकल्प देता है।
I like tea and coffee.
मुझे चाय और कॉफ़ी पसंद है।
She is smart but lazy.
वह होशियार है लेकिन आलसी है।
Do you want rice or roti?
तुम चावल चाहते हो या रोटी?
He can sing and dance.
वह गा सकता है और नाच सकता है।
because और so — कारण और परिणाम
'because' कारण (reason) बताता है, 'so' परिणाम (result) बताता है।
I stayed home because it was raining.
मैं घर रहा क्योंकि बारिश हो रही थी।
It was raining, so I stayed home.
बारिश हो रही थी, इसलिए मैं घर रहा।
She was tired because she studied all night.
वह थकी हुई थी क्योंकि उसने पूरी रात पढ़ाई की।
He was hungry, so he ate lunch early.
उसे भूख लगी थी, इसलिए उसने जल्दी खाना खा लिया।
because = कारण (क्यों?), so = परिणाम (तो क्या हुआ?)
when, before, after — समय संयोजक
ये संयोजक समय-संबंध बताते हैं।
I brush my teeth before I eat breakfast.
मैं नाश्ते से पहले दाँत साफ़ करता हूँ।
After I finish homework, I play.
होमवर्क ख़त्म करने के बाद मैं खेलता हूँ।
When the bell rings, we go to class.
जब घंटी बजती है, हम कक्षा में जाते हैं।
I'll call you when I reach home.
जब मैं घर पहुँचूँगा, तुम्हें फ़ोन करूँगा।
although / even though — रियायती संयोजक
'although' और 'even though' = 'हालाँकि / भले ही' — उम्मीद के विपरीत परिणाम।
Although it was cold, she went outside.
हालाँकि ठंड थी, वह बाहर गई।
Even though he was tired, he kept studying.
भले ही वह थका हुआ था, उसने पढ़ाई जारी रखी।
I enjoyed the trip although it rained.
मैंने यात्रा का मज़ा लिया हालाँकि बारिश हुई।
हिन्दी और अंग्रेज़ी में अंतर
- ●हिंदी के 'और, लेकिन, या, क्योंकि, इसलिए, जब, हालाँकि' अंग्रेज़ी के and, but, or, because, so, when, although से सीधे मेल खाते हैं।
- ●दोनों भाषाओं में इनका उपयोग बहुत समान है।

Because I was tired, so I slept early.

'because' और 'so' दोनों एक ही वाक्य में नहीं — एक चुनें।
Although she was tired, but she kept working.

'although' और 'but' दोनों एक ही वाक्य में नहीं — एक चुनें।
